Princess Diana's Ugly Nickname For King Charles' Mistress
Did you know that the late Princess Diana's had a special nickname for King Charles' mistress? Now Camilla is England's new Queen Consort.
After the death of Queen Elizabeth at 96 and the coronation of King Charles III, his wife Camilla became England's new Queen Consort.
The former Camilla Parker Bowles (75) has a long-standing relationship with Charles, having known each other since the current King was married to Diana, the Late Princess of Hearts, who died in a tragic car crash in Paris in 1997.
In fact, even Princess Diana admitted that Charles' mistress at the time was behind the break-up of their marriage, which lasted from 1981 to 1996.
"There were three of us in the marriage, it was too crowded," Princess Diana said at one point.
Princess Diana's Nickname For Charles' Mistress
In the famous book "Diana: The Last Word", Simone Simmons, a close friend of the Princess of Hearts, claimed Diana nicknamed Camilla "the Rottweiler" due to the fact that "once she has got her teeth into someone she won’t let go".
"She tackled Charles about the relationship but never got a proper answer. He didn’t deny being with Camilla and he didn’t lie. Instead, he became tongue-tied and refused to reply to her questions. It was a childish way of dealing with the situation. But then neither Charles nor Diana were being very grown up about things."
Diana and Charles wed in 1981, and things seemed to be going well at first.
However, Charles later acknowledged that the marriage had "irretrievably broken down" with the birth of Prince Harry in 1984. It is then that he rekindled his extramarital affair with Camilla.
The royal writer revealed that, by the early 90s, Diana was "telephoning Camilla in the middle of the night and then hanging up as soon as she answered". Princess Diana "tried to put Camilla out of her mind" but she kept "cropping up".
Diana was obviously upset with Charles and Camilla, but it's said that she also has other lovers.
She reportedly had three loves in her life: Charles, art dealer Oliver Hoare, and British-Pakistani surgeon Hasnat Khan, according to Howard Hodgson, a friend of the Prince of Wales.
Following the dramatic BBC Panorama interview with the Princess of Wales in 1996, Charles and Diana divorced formally in 1992 after initially divorcing amicably.
