This vintage Rolex Precision chronometer watch is a rare and interesting find. It demonstrates to us that Rolex is not only elegant, but is also consistent in high quality and performance. Rolex Precision chronometer watches are some of Rolex' most desired wristwatches. The Precision model is exceptionally rare because it has high-grade chronometer movements designed to meet and surpass the highest standards of accuracy and reliability of their day. The definition of a chronometer, according to COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres), is a high precision watch capable of displaying the seconds and housing a movement that has been tested over several days, in different positions, and at different temperatures, by an official, neutral body. Rolex Watch History

The history of Rolex began in 1905 with the ingenious Hans Wilsdorf as its founder. At the age of 24, Hans Wilsdorf founded a company in London specializing in the distribution of timepieces with precise movements manufactured by a Swiss watchmaking company in Bienne. Rolex first concentrated on the quality of the movements. The persistent search for chronometric precision quickly led to success. In 1910, a Rolex watch was the first wristwatch in the world to receive the Swiss Certificate of Chronometric Precision, granted by the Official Watch Rating Centre in Bienne. The innovation of the Rolex wristwatch is a landmark to the transformation of watchmaking. It includes the creation of the first waterproof wristwatch called the Oyster and the Perpetual rotor self-winding mechanism. For over a century, Rolex watches have supported explorers and achievers around the world, up to the top of the highest mountains, as well as down into the depths of the our oceans.
