Vintage Christian Dior 1956 “Bal des Oiseaux” bird earrings designed by Mitchel Maer in very good condition. Comes with satin pouch. Collectors item!
This rare set of clip earrings by Christian Dior are attributed to Mitchel Maer for Henkel & Grosse. Titled "Bal des Oiseaux" in 1956, this early set depicts bronze birds holding rhinestone olive branches. The brilliant design recalls typical motifs of the period (predating the famous bird- embellished dress worn by Leslie Caron in Gigi two years later.) An exceptional and important example of haute couture jewelry by Dior from the fifties. The set is illustrated in Christian Dior and Germany 1947 to 1957, Adelheid Rasche, ed., pages 156 and 157.
