In a study led by Dr. Bodo Winter, an associate professor of cognitive linguistics at the University of Birmingham, linguistic experts have determined the world's most beautiful boys' and girls' names.
From a list of 400 names, a selection of the 100 most popular baby names, boys and girls, in the United States and the UK was made.
The 100 selected names were divided by syllable and it was determined whether they evoked emotion when said aloud. Eventually, the linguistics experts settled on just 50 names after performing a scoring calculation.

According to the Daily Mail, the study conducted by the University of Birmingham used phonetics, which studies the sounds, patterns, and structures of human language, and scored the names according to how much emotion the names evoked when spoken.

While the research suggests that some baby names sound prettier than others, there are other factors that play a role in how pretty a name sounds, including cultural influences, gender, and family history.
The experts announced that the most beautiful girl's name in the United States and Great Britain is Sophia, while Matthew and Zayn topped the list for boys in those countries.
The name "Matthew", for example, means "God's gift," and Dr. Bodo Winter said it has many positive connotations associated with it when spoken aloud.
The expert explained that the names that ranked highest elicited the most positive emotions when spoken aloud and are therefore likely to sound the most beautiful to the human ear.
