Saudi Arabia Unveils World's First Five-Star "Full-Service Camel Hotel"
Incredible as it may seem, Saudi Arabia has opened a five-star hotel dedicated entirely to... camels. It's the first "full-service camel hotel" in the world!
The 120-room hotel has a consistent staff of people working to serve the camels, offering them protection, grooming, custom camel meals, and special services such as exterior beautification, according to The Epoch Times.
It is a hotel dedicated to taking care of the camels during the sixth King Abdul Aziz Camel Festival.
The hotel, called "Tetaman", was featured in a video released by the Saudi Arabian Camel Club on its Twitter page.
The official explained that the hotel provides five-star services for guests' camels, including meals, warm milk, and making sure the stables are clean and warm. He added that the hotel currently costs about 400 Saudi riyals (about $106.5) per night.
"The idea of the hotel is wonderful and comfortable for the camel owners and club officials. Camels are examined before they enter their rooms," said camel owner Omair Al Qahtani.
The 40-day camel festival began on 1 December 2021 in Riyadh, bringing together camel owners and enthusiasts from the Gulf, the US, Australia, France, and Russia. The festival attracts more than 100,000 visitors daily from around the world and seeks to preserve the role of the camel in Saudi Arabia's Bedouin tradition and heritage, even as the oil-rich country modernizes.
It is important to note that camel breeding is a multi-million dollar industry, with similar events taking place across the region.
The Dubai Camel Hospital costs around 11 million dollars and is equipped to house up to 20 animals.
The structure, the only one of its kind in the world, has an operating room and an X-ray room.
"We have to take care of the camels. It's not enough just to breed and educate them, but also to be able to treat them medically," says the structure's director, Mohamed Al Bulooshi.
"That's why we need to be able to take advantage of the most advanced technologies for proper treatment," the director added.
