A Rookie Card Signed By Serena Williams Sold For Record Price At Auction

A rookie card with Serena Williams in her debut season, with the autograph of the famous American tennis player, became the most expensive women's sports card.

Reuters reported that the rookie card, printed in 2003, was sold for 44,280 dollars over the weekend, at an auction organized by Goldin Auctions.

"Final Sale Price: $44,280. An all-time record for any women’s sports card", wrote the New Jersey-based auction house on its official Twitter account.

Collectible Cards Are Becoming More Popular

The previous record was 34,440 dollars for a rookie card with Mia Hamm, a former member of the United States women's national football team, in its first season. The item was sold at auction this June.
