In an interview with Yahoo Australia, McMullan revealed that the gemstone weighs an impressive four kilograms and is valued at around $3,500. "It’s by far the largest single point I’ve unearthed during my time at the amethyst mine," she noted. Finding such a large amethyst point is a rare occurrence, even for seasoned crystal hunters.
Kirsty McMullan’s remarkable discovery of a 4-kilogram amethyst has captivated crystal lovers across the globe. About Amethyst: History and Properties

Amethyst, part of the quartz family, is renowned for its deep purple hues and has been revered for centuries for its beauty and mystical properties. The name 'amethyst' derives from the ancient Greek word 'amethystos', meaning "not intoxicated," as the stone was believed to protect its wearer from drunkenness. According to Greek mythology, drinking from a cup made of amethyst was thought to prevent intoxication.

This semi-precious stone ranks 7 on the Mohs hardness scale and typically appears in shades of violet, lilac, and lavender. Amethysts are primarily sourced from countries like Brazil, Uruguay, Zambia, and Tanzania, with some deposits also found in Australia.

Healing Properties and Energetic Effects

Amethyst is prized not only for its beauty but also for its wide range of spiritual and physical healing properties. Many believe that the stone helps foster a strong connection to oneself, enhancing both inner peace and spiritual awakening.

Among its numerous benefits, amethyst is said to:
  •     Aid in meditation and spiritual growth
  •     Relieve stress, anxiety, and anger
  •     Enhance communication and interpersonal skills
  •     Stimulate physical and mental abilities
  •     Protect against negative energies
  •     Support the body’s natural healing processes, including the respiratory and digestive systems
Amethyst has long been cherished as a gemstone that promotes balance, strength, and serenity—attributes that make it a favorite among crystal enthusiasts and spiritual seekers alike.
