Famous "Fancy Vivid" Diamond Could Fetch 50 Million Dollars At Auction
The largest blue diamond in the "fancy vivid" class (the highest color intensity grade) could fetch a price of up to 50 million dollars at an auction at a Christie's sale of rare jewels in Geneva on Nov. 7
The exquisite stone dubbed Bleu Royal is the largest internally flawless fancy vivid blue diamond to ever appear at auction, Christie’s said.
The auction will take place at the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues and Christie's estimates that Bleu Royal could fetch $35 million – $50 million.
If the gem achieves its estimate, it will be among the top five fancy blue diamonds ever sold at auction.

"What makes Bleu Royal so rare and special is its size. At 17.6 carats, it's the largest of its kind," said Rahul Kadakia, Christie's international head of jewelry, according to Reuters.
"Its color is very rich naturally, and it has flawless internal clarity," he added.
The pear-shaped stone has been part of a private collection for 50 years and is set to go up for sale at the rare gem auction organized by Christie's on November 7th in Geneva.
"This is a true miracle of nature,” Christie’s International Head of Jewelry said.
“Over our 257-year-long history, Christie’s has had the privilege of offering the world’s rarest gems at auction, and Blue Royal continues this tradition. We are proud to offer collectors the opportunity to own a diamond fit for royalty.”
In 2016, Christie's sold a rare 14.6-carat blue diamond, called "Oppenheimer Blue", for over 57 million dollars.
"We hope it will surpass 'Oppenheimer'", said Rahul Kadakia.
"We have toured it all around the world, to Asia, to the U.S. and Europe, and we've had good interest from collectors worldwide", added the specialist from Christie's.
