Lady Gaga as Patrizia Reggiani
"House of Gucci" has an Incredible Cast
Lady Gaga will play Patrizia Reggiani, the ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci, the grandson of renowned fashion designer Guccio Gucci. Reggiani was tried and convicted for orchestrating her ex-husband's assassination.
Gucci was shot and killed by a hitman Reggiani hired on the steps of his office in 1995, in Milan.
Reggiani, who became known in the media as the "Black Widow", was convicted in 1998 and sentenced to 29 years in prison. She was released in 2016 due to good behavior after serving only 18 years.
Maurizio Gucci had two daughters with Patrizia Reggiani, but he left her for a younger woman after 12 years of marriage.
In addition to Lady Gaga, the movie stars Adam Driver in the lead role of Maurizio Gucci, Jared Leto as Paolo Gucci, Al Pacino as Aldo Gucci, Jeremy Irons as Rodolfo Gucci, Salma Hayek as Giuseppina "Pina" Auriemma, and Jack Huston as Domenico De Sole.
Controversy: Reggiani isn't pleased with Lady Gaga
An interesting fact to note is that the real Patrizia Reggiani (now 72 years old) isn't pleased with Lady Gaga. She would have liked for the famous Hollywood star to reach out to her first.
"I'm annoyed by the fact that Lady Gaga is portraying me in the new Ridley Scott film without even having the courtesy or the good sense to come and meet me. It has nothing to do with money because I won't be taking a single cent from the film. It's about common sense and respect," Patrizia Reggiani told Ansa, the Italian national news agency.
She believes that any good actor should first get to know the person that they are meant to be playing.
"I think it is not right that I wasn't contacted. And I say this with all the sympathy and appreciation that I have for her," she added.
