Prince William, heir apparent to the British throne, hasn't been seen in a kilt in Scotland for many years, as noted by The Guardian, as he prefers to consistently appear in more classic attire.
Since becoming the Prince of Wales, William has worn various outfits for official ceremonies and public travels. However, he has refrained from wearing a kilt, The Guardian reports.
Despite being the Prince of Wales, William also holds the title of the Earl of Strathearn, a territory in central Scotland. He is also the Lord of the Isles, a Scottish noble title.
Prince William Is Criticized For Refusing To Wear A Kilt
According to the press across the Channel, Prince William hasn't been seen publicly wearing a kilt in Scotland since childhood.
This surprising situation is criticized by John Sugden, the Scottish tailor to William's father, King Charles III. "We would like to make a kilt and jacket for the Prince of Wales.

It would continue a tradition and, especially as the Lord of the Isles, would be a perfect way to popularize traditional Highland attire," he explains.
"It's curious that William hasn't worn a kilt as an adult, although it's possible he might have done so in a private setting," notes Joe Little, editor of Majesty magazine, a publication dedicated to the monarchy.
"It's rare to see him in the Scottish countryside. But wearing a kilt at least once would silence the critics," he says.
The Guardian notes that Prince William hasn't publicly given a reason for not wearing a kilt, pointing out that this attire is not obligatory.
However, the comparison with his father, King Charles III, is striking.
The British monarch has many kilts "that he doesn't hesitate to wear during his stays in Scotland," the newspaper explains.
In August 1997, during a visit to Balmoral Castle with his two sons, the former Prince of Wales wore a kilt, while William and Harry (15 and 13 years old at the time) opted for beige trousers.
