The Mystery Of The Titanic Necklace. That Was Found After 111 Years

A necklace that had been unseen for over 100 years has been discovered in the wreckage of the Titanic. However, divers are prohibited from touching it!
This is due to a UK-US agreement that prevents the retrieval of artifacts from the wreck, according to Richard Parkinson, the chief executive of Magellan, the company that coordinated the expedition.

Magellan, a deep-sea mapping company based in Guernsey, has released images of the gold jewelry featuring the shape of a tooth from a prehistoric shark called a Megalodon, found in the Titanic wreck.

The team plans to use artificial intelligence to identify the necklace's owner by searching for family members among the 2,200 passengers who were on board when the Titanic sank. The company reports that images of the passengers, particularly their faces and clothing, will be meticulously analyzed as part of the project.

The Secrets Of The Titanic Unveiled

The scanning of the wreck was conducted in the summer of 2022 by Magellan Ltd, a depth mapping company, in collaboration with Atlantic Productions, which is producing a documentary about the project.

Remotely controlled submersibles spent over 200 hours meticulously examining the wreckage from all angles. More than 700,000 images were captured, resulting in an accurate 3D reconstruction. Gerhard Seiffert, the coordinator of the expedition from Magellan, described it as the largest underwater scanning project he had ever been involved in.

"The depth of almost 4,000 meters where the wreckage is located presents a challenge due to the strong currents. We were strictly forbidden from physically interacting with anything to avoid causing damage. Another challenge was meticulously mapping every square centimeter, even the less interesting parts," explained Seiffert.

The scans showcase the immense scale of the ship and reveal small details, including the serial number on one of the propellers.

Parks Stephenson, a longtime Titanic researcher, expressed amazement upon seeing the scans for the first time.

"Thanks to these scans, you can now see the wreck in its entirety like never before. It also provides an insight into the current condition of the wreckage," Stephenson stated. He believes that studying the scans could offer new clues and a fresh perspective on the events of that fateful night in 1912 when the Titanic met its tragic fate.
