The Ethereal Carolina Divine Paraiba – A Famous Gem In The Guinness Book
The Ethereal Carolina Divine Paraiba is one of the world's most highly prized precious stones, famous not only for its beauty but also for being in The Guinness Book.
The Ethereal Carolina Divine Paraiba is amongst the ranks of extraordinary stones like the Hope Diamond, the Logan Sapphire, the Alan Caplan Ruby, and others.
The Ethereal Carolina Divine Paraiba remains the largest paraiba tourmaline discovered to date. Because paraiba tourmaline is found in very few areas on Earth, it is still extremely uncommon and highly sought after.

The Ethereal Carolina Divine Paraiba, an almost 192-carat Paraiba tourmaline valued between $25 million and $125 million, belongs to Montreal financier Vincent Boucher.
Also, the Ethereal Carolina Divine Paraiba establishes a new world record for the largest finished paraiba tourmaline.
The Discovery of The Ethereal Carolina Divine Paraiba
Preferred by collectors and affluent jewelers worldwide, paraiba tourmaline is among the rarest gemstones in the world.
For every 10,000 diamonds, there is one Paraiba tourmaline.
Paraiba tourmaline is named after the region in Brazil where most of them, including Boucher's, are found.
Originally found in the Batalha mine in Paraiba, Brazil, in 1987, this exquisite and ethereal stone is a member of a unique class of tourmaline.
The owner of the fabled stone, Vincent Boucher, claims that paraiba tourmaline only occurs on earth. Rio Grande do Norte, the state next door to Paraiba, and a few locations in Africa are also home to these oddly colored tourmalines.
Vincent Boucher purchased the magnificent stone in May 2009 for an unknown sum. The Ethereal Carolina Divine Paraiba has a perfect neon blue hue and optical transparency.
The stone was given its name by Vincent Boucher, the creator and CEO of Billionaire Business Enterprises, Inc., a Canadian corporation, in honor of a study he did on the stone.
Vincent Boucher views the Ethereal Carolina Divine Paraiba as a component of his company's Planetary Collection of jewels, which he thinks will eventually surpass all other collections of colored gemstones worldwide, according to Eragem.
The Record
The Ethereal Carolina Divine Paraiba, which is cut in a modified brilliant oval, is the largest cut paraiba tourmaline in the world according to the Guinness Book of World Records.
The previous tourmaline that was discovered and added to the Guinness Book weighed slightly over 51.77 carats. So, this Paraiba tourmaline easily broke that record.
The precise weight of The Ethereal Carolina Divine Paraiba is 191.87 carats, neither more nor less. Not only does it have an impressive weight, but its dimensions - 36.44 mm by 33.75 mm by 21.85 mm - are just as amazing.
Furthermore, the Ethereal Carolina Divine Paraiba has no visible imperfections and is exceptionally flawless.
The Ethereal Carolina Divine Paraiba is one of the most priceless treasures that nature has given to humanity. It is more than just a unique discovery.
The Ethereal Carolina Divine Paraiba and the smooth Mauritius Sea share the same magnificent pale blue tint.
A Lavish Necklace
Vincent Boucher contacted Moneca Kaufmann at the beginning of 2013. She is the owner of Kaufmann de Suisse, a Canadian jewelry firm.
Mr. Boucher requested that Ms. Kaufmann create a handcrafted piece of art to highlight the stunning ocean-blue Paraiba.
Moneca collaborated closely with master jeweler Patrick Gravelle for six months in order to bring her vision for the Ethereal Carolina Divine Paraiba to life.
The outcome was a lavish necklace with 1,706 vividly colored gemstones. Moneca looked to the sea for ideas.
"The brilliant blue-green color of the stone is symbolic of our little blue planet, 70% covered by oceans, whose health is inextricably linked with our own", she said.
In light of this, Moneca expressed the hope that the necklace encourages people to reflect on our interdependence with the oceans.
Moneca hung the Ethereal Carolina Divine Paraiba underneath a 10.73-carat yellow diamond to highlight this interdependence.
The inner light that each and every one of us radiates is symbolized by the golden diamond. The necklace also represents the sun, which is yellow and golden and illuminates all life on Earth.
The sea animals that make up the rest of the necklace are symbolic of all life, which is supported by the sun and the earth. Among the seahorses, starfish, octopuses, stingrays, and turtles that inhabit the necklace's branches are white and yellow-gold coral.
The hand-sculpted animals are encrusted with a variety of gemstones, including tsavorite and rubellite garnets, emeralds, rubies, blue topaz, amethysts, diamonds, and pink, yellow, blue, and orange sapphires.
The overall pattern reminds us of the necessity of unity for life to flourish, while the multitude of hues symbolizes the diversity of nature.
And, of course, the Ethereal Carolina Divine Paraiba helps highlight this necessity of unity and diversity.
The Cancelled Auction
On October 18, 2013, Kaufmann de Suisse revealed the necklace. As a result, there were a lot of news stories that announced the approaching 2014 auction.
The BaselWorld team gave guests the option to view the necklace in April 2014, from March 27 to April 3, 2014, by appointment only.
iDiva stated in an April 2014 story that the necklace would probably be put up for auction before that year's end. After that, radio silence ensued. Nothing further came out regarding the jewelry or the Ethereal Carolina Divine Paraiba.
Billionaire Business Enterprises personnel announced in October 2019 that the Guinness World Records Largest Cut Paraiba Tourmaline (191.87-carat perfect gem) is still 100% held by Vincent Boucher, CEO of Billionaire Business Enterprises Inc., and that the scheduled 2014 sale has been canceled.
