Acts Of Kindness: Keanu Reeves Donated 70% Of His "Matrix" Salary
Actor Keanu Reeves, known for his compassion and his acts of charity, decided to donate 70% of his "Matrix" salary for a noble cause.
The Hollywood star is funding leukemia research in the hopes of ending this terrible disease that affects many people in the world.
According to LAD Bible, Keanu Reeves was paid 10 million dollars for the 1999 famous film up front and earned an additional 35 million dollars over time. The actor pledged $31.5 million total of that sum to leukemia research.
Keanu Reeves also gave up significant portions of his salary to allow other cast and crew members to benefit from a larger budget. His contract for the "Matrix" sequels included a significant pay cut so more money could be available for costumes and special effects workers.
The fourth part of the "Matrix" saga, titled "Resurrections," was released on December 22.
Keanu Reeves and Carrie Ann-Moss returned in their roles, as did Jada Pinkett-Smith (Niobe), Daniel Bernhardt (Agent Johnson), and Lambert Wilson (Merovingian).
New additions include Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Christina Ricci, and Priyanka Chopra.
Keanu Reeves' Fight Against Leukemia
The battle with leukemia has taken its toll on Keanu Reeves. It's a disease his younger sister Kim has been battling leukemia for a decade.
Diagnosed in 1991, the disease went into remission in 2001.
The 57-year-old Canadian-raised actor, always discreet with his charity work, has set up his own foundation to help children's hospitals and support cancer research.
According to Daily Wire, in Hollywood, Keanu Reeves has a reputation for being kind, polite, and humble, with no ego like most other actors of his caliber. Fans also love how he seems slightly averse to fame and mostly uninterested in it. No wonder everyone loves him.
