"Karl Lagerfeld, A Line of Beauty"

"Karl Lagerfeld, A Line of Beauty," the first international retrospective to take place after his death in February 2019, will run from May 5 to July 16, 2023, at the Met Museum in New York and will showcase the legendary fashion designer's career from the 1950s to his last collection in 2019.

Designed to fund the Met's fashion department (The Costume Institute), the spectacular Met Gala event, which traditionally coincides with the New York museum's annual grand exhibition, will take place on 1 May 2023.

The Karl Lagerfeld exhibition will be organized in such a way as to pay tribute to the famous fashion designer, whose name is inextricably linked to that of the House of Chanel.

The organizers revealed that most of the approximately 150 creations on display will be accompanied by Karl Lagerfeld's sketches.

From Fendi to Chanel and through his own brand, his genius has constantly renewed his sights, always absorbing new information without ever losing his compass, said Anna Wintour.

According to the editor-in-chief of US Vogue magazine, Karl Lagerfeld's career has been full of paradoxes.

In her view, Karl Lagerfeld was the king of commerce, but also a great fashion intellectual, one of the most cultured people I have ever known.

Karl Lagerfeld, born into a wealthy but strict German family, began his long career in Paris, where his friendship turned rivalry with Yves Saint-Laurent soon became legendary.

Karl Lagerfeld's spectacular designs and presentations for Chanel, Fendi, and his own brand, as well as his strong personality, have left a deep mark on the international fashion industry.
