Kim Kardashian is Collaborating With Fendi on a New Clothing Collection

Kim Kardashian West's shapewear and lingerie brand, Skims, is collaborating with the Italian fashion house Fendi on a collection featuring leggings, dresses, and undergarments.

"Introducing FENDI x SKIMS - a first of its kind collaboration that unites the luxury of Fendi with the innovation of SKIMS. This limited-edition collection launches on November 9 at 6 am PST at www.fendiskims.com. #FENDIxSKIMSm," the star announced on Instagram.

The collection focuses on form-fitting garments like hosiery, underwear, and sportswear, with each piece covered in a Skims x Fendi monogram print.

The collaboration also includes one bonded leather dress, Kardashian West’s favorite item in the collection. Apparently, a lot of the pieces are reversible.

As for the prices, the collection is not a cheap one.

While Skims is usually on the more affordable side (shapewear starts at $28, and loungewear starts at over $100) the price point of this collection is a lot closer to Fendi’s, with leggings going for more than $1,000 and a puffer coat with a logomania interior for $2,950. The most expensive piece is the leather dress, priced at $4,200.

Fendi creative director Kim Jones had the idea to make this partnership during a meeting with his team in Rome.

"Suddenly, all the women went silent and started looking at their phones," Jones said in a statement. "I didn't know what was going on, but they were waiting for the launch of the new SKIMS collection. It was then that I thought: let's do something together."

The Skims brand, valued at $ 1.6 billion in April, has grown in popularity among young shoppers after being launched by Kim Kardashian West in 2019 due to the notoriety of the reality show star and her many admirers.

In the past, the Fendi fashion house has collaborated with rap singer Nicki Minaj and artist Joshua Vides.

Kim Jones, the artistic director of the Fendi house for women's collections - a position taken over from Karl Lagerfeld - and also the artistic director of the men's collections created by the Dior house, is famous for his proven flair over the years in terms of increasing the notoriety of a brand thanks to collaborations with artists and popular personalities in the cultural field.

Kim Jones worked with rapper Travis Scott to design the Dior men's spring collection and then with Donatella Versace for the unusual "Fendace" collection, which combined the new clothing creations of Fendi and Versace. The two legendary Italian fashion houses teamed up for a joint collection and surprised the public with a role reversal at Milan Fashion Week.
