The "Autograph Suit" Signed By Hollywood Stars At The BAFTA & Oscar Galas

Fashion designer Sandy Powell's special "autograph suit", which has been signed by more than 200 Hollywood celebrities including Leonardo DiCaprio, Spike Lee, and Donatella Versace, is now in the Victoria and Albert Museum's collection.

According to The Guardian, the so-called "autograph suit", worn by Sandy Powell during the 2020 film awards season, was auctioned off as part of an Art Fund fundraising effort to save Prospect Cottage, the creative studio of Powell's mentor and friend Derek Jarman.

The special suit was bought by Edwina Dunn, executive director of educational charity The Female Lead, who donated it to the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A).

Other signatures include Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Joaquin Phoenix, Scarlett Johansson, and Billie Eilish.

Richard E Grant had to kneel on the red carpet to add his name, while Gwendoline Christie found herself signing the inside of Sandy Powell's leg. "Brad Pitt's name is in a secret place under a lapel".

Prospect Cottage, a converted fisherman's shack on the windswept shores of Dungeness, is a place of pilgrimage for fans of Jarman's work around the world.
