The world-famous jewelry designer Elsa Peretti, who worked for Tiffany & Co since 1974, recently died at the age of 80. She was a symbol of the renowned brand, a shining star in the world of jewelry and decorative objects.
Elsa Peretti passed away on March 19, 2021, at her home in the Spanish town of Sant Marti Vell in Catalonia.
In the five decades in which she was part of the Tiffany & Co family, the Italian designer Elsa Peretti earned a place among the greatest designers who ever lived and created some of the most outstanding jewelry pieces in the world.

A masterful artisan, Elsa was responsible for a revolution in the world of jewelry design. Her collections of organic, sensual forms have inspired generations. Elsa’s relationship with style and the natural world was profoundly personal and strongly reflected in her creations. Over the past nearly 50 years Elsa has created some of the most innovative jewelry and object designs in the world. Elsa explored nature with the acumen of a scientist and the vision of a sculptor," said Tiffany & Co in an official statement.
According to the famous fashion House, Elsa Peretti had always been inspired by nature and lived her life dedicated to giving back to the world from which she drew so much inspiration. She believed that taking care of and protecting our planet is a duty of all of humanity.
"We could do so much better. I’m trying to do something good," said Elsa Peretti.
Tiffany & Co. notes that Elsa Peretti’s poetic designs and legacy will remain a constant inspiration for generations to come.
"Our hearts go out to her family, friends, and family of artisans and craftspeople who realized her fantasies, she will be deeply missed by all of us at Tiffany & Co", said the famous House.

Elsa Peretti was born on May 1, 1940, in Florence, Italy. She initially studied interior design in Milan and worked for the architect Dado Torrigiani. Later, at the age of 29, in 1969, she began her career as a jewelry designer.
According to EFE, Elsa Peretti moved to New York and began by creating jewelry for several top designers, including Oscar de la Renta, Giorgio di Sant'Angelo and Halston. However, since 1974, she worked exclusively with Tiffany & Co and created over thirty jewelry collections for this House, the first one been launched in the late 1970s. Elsa Peretti organized her first retrospective exhibition at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York in 1990.
The Italian designer is famous for creating timeless pieces, which have become favorites of celebrities.
Some of the mesmerizing works of art made by Elsa Peretti for Tiffany & Co. are found in collections hosted by the British Museum, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, and the Houston Museum of Fine Arts.
