The Golden Raspberry Awards Organizers Cancelled Bruce Willis' Award
The Golden Raspberry Awards organizers decided to cancel Bruce Willis' award after the famous actor announced he is "stepping away" from his career due to aphasia.
The Hollywood legend initially won the award for "Worst Performance in a Motion Picture in 2021" at the Razzie Awards.
On Wednesday, the family of Bruce Willis revealed that the 67-year-old famous actor and action movie specialist is ending his career after being diagnosed with aphasia, a language disorder caused by damage in a specific area of the brain that controls language expression and comprehension.
"After careful consideration, the Razzie family has made the decision to cancel Bruce Willis' award due to his newly revealed diagnosis," co-founders John Wilson and Mo Murphy said in a statement.
"If a person's medical condition is a factor in their decision-making and/or performance, we recognize that it is not appropriate to award them a Razzie," they explained.
Each year, the Razzie Awards - a kind of anti-Oscar awards - are presented to the worst Hollywood film productions.
Bruce Willis Had His Own Category At The Razzie Awards
Last February, the organizers of the Golden Raspberry Awards announced the creation of a special "worst Bruce Willis performance in a film since 2021" category.

At the 42nd Golden Raspberry Awards 2022 ceremony, which took place on 26 March, no fewer than eight Bruce Willis films were in the running for the Razzie. In most of these very low-budget dramas, which only aired on streaming platforms, the actor had only brief appearances.
Bruce Willis had won the trophy for "Worst Performance in a Motion Picture in 2021" for his role in the movie "Cosmic Sin".
The Golden Raspberry Awards are awarded online by the approximately 1,000 members of the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation. These awards, founded in 1981 by John J. B. Wilson, parody the Oscars and ironize the weakest films, screenplays, acting, and directing in the American film industry.
Bruce Willis Is "Stepping Away" From Acting
The sad news was announced by Rumer Willis - the eldest daughter of actress Demi Moore and actor Bruce Willis - on her social media account on Wednesday.
"To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities. As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.
This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support. We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him.
As Bruce always says, 'Live it up' and together we plan to do just that."
