LAPD was prepared to arrest Will Smith at the Academy Awards gala for slapping Chris Rock, Will Packer, the producer of the Hollywood ceremony reveals.
"They were saying, you know, this is battery, was a word they used in that moment," Will Packer said in excerpts from an interview for ABC’s Good Morning America.
"They said, we will go get him. We are prepared. We’re prepared to get him right now," Packer added.
Finally, police did not act in any way because Rock refused to file a complaint, Will Packer said.
The Oscar producer reveals that behind the scenes, police were discussing options with Chris Rock.

Smith has been given 15 days' notice of a vote regarding his violations and sanctions and has the opportunity to provide a written response until the board meeting. As Chris went to continue his speech, Will stormed the stage and slapped Chris, and appeared to be shouting: "Keep my wife’s name out of your f-----g mouth!"
Smith won the Oscar for "Best Actor" for his role in "King Richard," and in the aftermath, he apologized in tears.
