Ticket Prices For Chris Rock's Shows Rocketed After The Slap On Oscar Stage

Chris Rock suffered public humiliation after Will Smith slapped him on the Oscar stage. In exchange, Rock appears to be benefiting from the massive publicity.

Ticket seller TickPick has sold more tickets to Chris Rock's tour in the night following the Oscars than it had done in the whole month before it.

"I sold more tickets overnight to see Chris Rock than I did last month in one place," the site's representatives wrote on Twitter.

TickPick also reported that tickets prices for Rock's Ego Death' World Tour have skyrocketed - with just the cheapest tickets rising from $46 to $314 as of Monday evening.

As of Tuesday morning, tickets on the Ticketmaster website for the next show the actor is gonna have in Boston had sold out, with the next location also selling quickly.

Tickets on Stub hub were listed between $125 and $399. On Vivid seats, tickets were listed between $244 and $1,150. And on TickPick, tickets were listed between $307 and $1,463.

Chris Rock will return to the stage of Boston's Wilbur Theatre for the start of his tour that will take him to 35 cities around the world - including the US, UK, Australia, and New Zealand.

When announcing the tour in February, Rock said on his Instagram: "Ego Death World Tour 2022 all-new material introspective very personal and very funny. Can’t wait to show you."

Attendees will be hoping that he has updated material by the time the first show on Wednesday comes around to address Sunday night's drama.

The Incident Between Chris Rock And Will Smith

"Jada, can't wait for GI Jane 2," Rock said, in reference to the fact that Jada is currently bald.- a result of the alopecia she suffers of.

Smith  then rushed to the stage, where  hit Rock before returning to his seat and shouting: "Keep my wife's name out of your [expletive] mouth."

He later apologized to the Academy. In a tearful acceptance speech for best actor, he also said he wanted to apologize to all his fellow nominees. But he did not apologize to Rock on the stage.

A couple of days later, Will Smith has issued an apology for slapping Chris Rock during the award show's live broadcast.

"Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.

I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.

I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees, and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us.

I am a work in progress." Will Smith wrote on Instagram and Facebook.
