The Gold Sapphire Earrings Offered By Putin Are Worth a Small Fortune

According to the Austrian daily, Putin gave Karin Kneissl a pair of white gold earrings with sapphires - estimated to be worth 50,000 euros - as a thank-you for inviting him to her wedding in August 2018.

Karin Kneissl was appointed to the head of Austrian diplomacy by the far-right FPÖ, a post she held from December 2017 until May 2019.

She invited Putin to her wedding while Austria held the six-month presidency of the European Union (EU).

Media close to the Kremlin proudly published images at the time and promoted them around the world with the Austrian bride waltzing with Putin.

Karin Kneissl thanked the Kremlin leader for the waltz with a deep bow.
