FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
Guccio Gucci was the son of a leather maker. In his teens he went to Florence in search of a new life and he later worked at the famous for its elegance and style Savoy Hotel in center of London. This experience inspired Guccio to bring the taste and aesthetic preferences of the English nobility into the goods he created. Guccio Gucci began his small leather goods and luggage company in Florence, Italy, in 1921, he was 40 years old at the time. Now, nearly 100 years later, his work is admired by countless tourists every day at The Gucci Museo, a museum devoted to the iconic Italian luxury brand. The museum is located in the heart of Florence on the Piazza della Signoria, just steps from the Palazzo Vecchio.
GUCCI DIAMOND TIMEPIECES
All of the Gucci Precious Timepieces are embellished with exquisite white diamonds. Some have a generous diamond bezel and pretty pyramidal studs on the white mother of pearl dial for an added elegance. Even the sporty lines, such as Gucci Dive watches, feature diamonds, as 45 gems around the bezel bring a beautifully softening touch. Gucci has its in-house gemologist to search for stones worldwide and maintains a jewelry workshop with currently about 30 goldsmiths and stone-setters near Milan.
GUCCI TIMEPIECES HAVE AN ECCENTRIC VOICE
British musician Florence Welch, lead singer of Florence + The Machine, is of the Gucci’s ambassadors, giving the power of her voice to the eccentric spirit of Gucci’s watches and jewelry collections. Florence admitted in the past, ‘When Alessandro [Gucci’s Creative Director, Alessandro Michele] and I first met, we bonded over our love of jewelry.’ Interestingly, Florence is said to be a huge fan of all things floral motifs by Gucci.
