"Game of Thrones": A New Jon Snow Sequel Series Is Coming Up

"Game of Thrones" is one of the most appreciated TV series in the world. Good news for fans: There will be a sequel series about Jon Snow, most people's favorite character.

According to AFP, the new Jon Snow sequel series is in development at HBO. The info was brought to public attention by US media outlets.

British actor Kit Harington, who played the indestructible character when he was exiled from Westeros at the end of the series, is expected to reprise his role if the project succeeds, the Hollywood Reporter and Variety said, citing unnamed sources.

HBO and representatives for Kit Harington declined to comment when asked by AFP.

The Game of Thrones' Jon Snow Sequel Series

Several spin-off series from the "Game of Thrones" universe created by novelist George RR Martin are already scheduled.

The first, "House of the Dragon", is due to air in August and three animated prequels are also planned.

But the series dedicated to Jon Snow would be the first to take place after the events that closed the "Game of Thrones" series, which ended in 2019 after the eighth season that divided many fans.

While many of the main characters have died - a hallmark of the series - Jon Snow learns that he is the potential heir to the Iron Throne ruling over Westeros, a realm he eventually leaves to settle in the hostile lands of the North.

His character had already created surprise after being resurrected in the arse of a previous season.

Fans React To The Jon Snow Sequel Series

News of a possible sequel was circulated by fans on Friday. Some rejoiced at the idea of seeing one of Game of Thrones's most prominent protagonists again, while others were wondering about the logic of the decision after what they felt was a disappointing final episode.

Since its launch in 2011, the show that aligns noble families tearing each other apart, epic battles, and dragons, has been a global hit, winning a record 59 Emmy Awards in total.

George RR Martin did not finish the series of novels from which the show was adapted. He signed a deal with HBO last year - reportedly worth tens of millions of dollars - to develop several series in the Game of Thrones universe and beyond.
