Mysterious $700 million Yacht In Italy Might Belong To Putin. It Could Be Seized
The members of Navalny's team announced that they will take $700 million from Putin.
"We will take Putin's $ 700 million, or 75 billion rubles, according to the new exchange rate," said Maria Pevcih and George Alburov, members of the anti-corruption team established by Kremlin opponent Alexei Navalny.
$700 million is the value of one of the largest and most expensive yachts in the world - Scheherazade - which, according to an investigation conducted by the foundation, actually belongs to the President of the Russian Federation.
The interior of the luxury yacht was described as being equipped with a spa, swimming pools, two helipads, a wood-burning fireplace, and a pool table designed to tilt so as to reduce the impact of the waves.
The Staff Of The Mysterious Yacht Is FSO
Navalny's team noted that the property, like many others, is not listed under Putin's name, but many of the yacht's staff members are Russia’s Federal Protective Service (FSO), an agency that manages security for high-ranking officials including Putin."Russian President Vladimir Putin is famous for stealing a lot, but nowhere does his name appear on what he stole. The same thing happened with our new discovery - one of the largest and most expensive yachts in the world, the Scheherazade. In documents, it does not belong to anyone and is quietly docked in an Italian port. But we are hard to lie ", said Maria Pevcih and Gheorghii Alburov.
"The staff (of the yacht ) are Russian state employees, military personnel, and they regularly travel to Italy as a team to work on the mysterious yacht," Pevchikh wrote on Twitter.
"Does Putin have real estate in Europe? At first glance, you might say no, because Putin hates everything European. He calls all those who go to the West national traitors and regards the West as an Empire of Lies. If we take a closer look, we will see that Vladimir Putin is lying hypocritically.
His daughters live in France in a beautiful castle on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. Putin's ex-wife, Liudmila, also owns a building in France. Putin's best friends and oligarchs, Usmanov, Deripaska, Abramovich, etc. also live comfortably lives abroad.
We also know that Putin loves luxury, if something is very expensive and full of gold, then he will want it. But Putin's most important trick [is that] if something belongs to him, then it doesn't matter the name on the papers, but who the real owner is - Putin," said the two members of Navalny's team.
Navalny's Team Asks Italy To Seize The Luxury Yacht
They also mentioned that for the investigation they had to go to the Italian port of Marina di Carrara, located on the west coast of the peninsula, where they noticed one of the newest yachts, with the mysterious name Scheherazade.Marina di Carrara Harbor Italy Picture Credit: Wikimedia Commons
"This yacht costs 75 billion rubles, is 140 meters long, and has 6 deck decks, two helicopter runways, a swimming pool, a SPA, a beauty salon, huge guest rooms, royal cabins, and a lift," the activist said. They also pointed out that there are several investigations about his yacht, but no one revealed direct evidence that it belonged to Vladimir Putin until now when they discovered that the crew of this yacht is FSO.
All members of the crew are Russians apart from the captain and almost half of the staff are members of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, an institution that guards Putin. Captain Guy Bennett-Pearce recently gave an interview to the New York Times but did not admit anything other than the fact that the yacht belonged to a Russian.
"We demand that Scheherazade is immediately seized and the documents disclosed so we can see who, when, and how paid for the construction and maintenance of this yacht because it was paid out with our money, stolen from Russian pensioners, doctors, and teachers, soldiers who are sent to lie, kill and be killed in the war in Ukraine, a war that only Putin needs," concluded Navalny's team.
According to Guardian, an investigation by La Stampa newspaper earlier this month had linked the vessel to Eduard Yurievich Khudainatov, the former president of the Russian state oil firm Rosneft, via a shell company registered in the Marshall Islands.
But Italian police are reportedly certain that Khudainatov is not the yacht’s real owner.
"He seems to be a man connected with Putin’s inner circle but not so rich as to own a yacht like the Scheherazade," said Jacopo Iacoboni, the journalist for La Stampa who carried out the investigation.
