Oscars 2022: "CODA" - What Does The Title Of The Winning Movie Mean?

The 94th Academy Awards took place on Sunday night in Los Angeles, and the big trophy for Best Picture went to CODA.

In this category were nominated the following film productions "Belfast", "CODA", "Don't Look Up", "Drive My Car", "Dune", "King Richard", "Licorice Pizza", "Nightmare Alley", "The Power of the Dog", "West Side Story".

This film, directed by Sian Heder, had already won awards from the Screen Actors Guild of America (SAG) and the Producers Guild of America (PGA) in 2022.

CODA - "Child of Deaf Adult"

CODA tells the story of a teenager named Ruby, the only non-hearing member of a family affected by deafness. When her family's fishing company is threatened, Ruby faces a powerful inner conflict, caught between her desire to pursue her passion for music at Berklee College of Music and her fears of abandoning her parents.

Incidentally, the film's title, CODA, is an acronym that stands for "Child of Deaf Adult".

In 2021, the Academy Award for Best Feature Film was won by Nomadland, directed by Chloe Zhao.

This year's Oscar hosts Amy Schumer, Regina Hall, and Wanda Sykes joked during Sunday's opening monologue about the Golden Globes, Florida's "Don't Say Gay" bill, and even the Oscars.
