Tiffany & Co. Unveils Tiffany Wonder Exhibition in Tokyo, Commemorating 187 Years of Artistry and Legacy in Diamonds
Anthony Ledru, President & CEO of Tiffany & Co., stated, “For decades, Tiffany & Co. has drawn inspiration from Japan, deepening our genuine ties and historical presence in the region. This exhibition highlights some of Tiffany's most extraordinary pieces, like the inaugural 1965 Bird on a Rock brooch by Jean Schlumberger, one of the 20th century’s most talented designers. It celebrates Tiffany’s superior craftsmanship, diamond expertise, and creativity, promising to delight every visitor.”
The brand's connection with Japan began in 1837, when founder Charles Lewis Tiffany began offering rare Japanese imports in America. Prominent designers like Edward C. Moore, Louis Comfort Tiffany, and Elsa Peretti have drawn inspiration from Japanese arts, which is celebrated in this exhibition for its creativity and respect.
Located in the TOKYO NODE gallery at Toranomon Hills Station Tower, one of Tokyo's tallest buildings, the exhibition mirrors the connection between Tiffany, Tokyo, and New York City, with all three having designs by the distinguished architecture firm OMA. The exhibition's scenography also bears OMA’s signature style.
Spanning 10 rooms, the Tiffany Wonder exhibition allows visitors to delve into themes central to Tiffany’s identity such as heritage and creativity. Showcased items include the first Blue Book catalog, an early Blue Box, and the famed Tiffany® Setting engagement ring. Visitors will encounter nearly 300 exclusive items, including a rare George Paulding Farnham orchid brooch and the Jean Schlumberger Plumes necklace, culminating with the 128.54-carat Tiffany Diamond in a new design inspired by the iconic Bird on a Rock brooch.
Alexandre Arnault, Executive Vice President at Tiffany & Co., commented, “The concept of wonder has been a cornerstone of our brand since its inception in 1837. Every piece we create is designed to ignite wonder and inspire significant romantic narratives. This latest exhibition in Tokyo celebrates this enduring spirit.”
Tiffany Wonder opens at the TOKYO NODE gallery on April 12 and will continue until June 23, with tickets available via the Tiffany & Co. app from March 14 through June 23.
