Penelope Cruz Honoured at Chanel Sponsored Event
The beautiful Spanish actress Penelope Cruz turned heads with a red gown and fine Chanel jewelry.
The New York Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) paid special tribute to Spanish actress Penelope Cruz on Tuesday night, at the museum’s 14th annual Film Benefit presented by Chanel. The famous French Fashion House sponsors the event since 2011.
Penelope honored the event with a breath-taking appearance. She wore a red floor-length haute couture dress created by Channel. Cruz is an ambassador of the famous French fashion house since 2018.
"She always looks lovely but her in Channel is obviously a great association, I think she's very classy," actress Diane Kruger said about Penelope.
Penelope accessorized the stunning open-back gown with Chanel fine jewelry, including the Premiers Brins diamond earrings and the Étoile Filante and Comète white gold rings.
Penelope Cruz Paid Tribute To Almodovar
Penelope Cruz came to the gala unaccompanied, but she was surrounded by many colleagues who wanted to celebrate the protagonist of "Madres Paralelas", the latest film by director Pedro Almodovar. The movie will be released on Christmas Eve in cinemas in the United States.
The Spanish actress thanked for this homage, which she said she "would not have received if she had not worked with brilliant directors".
"I would not be here tonight, being honored by MoMa, if I had not had the privilege of working with brilliant directors who have inspired me, taught me, helped me grow as an artist and as a person. I want to thank them all tonight, and especially my Pedro,” she said, paying homage to Pedro Almodovar.
Penelope Cruz thanked director Pedro Almodóvar, who taught her to "trust herself" and with whom she continues to "learn to play, about human behavior and about herself", helping her to cross artistic boundaries.
The recognition Penelope received gratefully comes a decade after the museum paid the same tribute to Almodóvar, who has worked with Cruz in seven films.
Giving his old collaboration with Cruz, Almodóvar sent a video message to her for the event, congratulating her on the recognition.
He recalled in the video dialogue with the actress that they had when they promoted "All About My Mother" (1999).
"You told me that when I get old you will take care of me. I’m not that old yet, but I hope you keep your word. When I am an old man, I hope you come and become, in this case, my mother. It would be a reflection of all the mothers that you have been for me throughout these seven films," he said in the message.
Movie Stars Dressed In Head-To-Toe Chanel
Among the participants in the gala were titans of the industry, who dressed in head-to-toe Chanel. Among them, Spanish singer Rosalia, actresses Diane Kruger and Anne Hathaway, the Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin, with whom Penelope Cruz starred in the television miniseries "Inside Look: The Assassination of Gianni Versace - American Crime Story" (2017-2018).
According to Elle, at the event funds were raised to ensure the preservation of the film’s most treasured works. The Chanel fashion house has been a longtime patron of the film industry.
Penélope Cruz was the first Spanish artist to win an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Woody Allen's "Vicky Cristina Barcelona." She was also awarded the Best Actress Award - the Copa Volpi - at this year's Venice Film Festival for her role in "Parallel Mothers".
