Created to commemorate the year 2000, the Montblanc Year of the Golden Dragon Limited Edition Fountain Pen celebrates the rare Golden, or Metal, Dragon year, which occurs only once every 60 years. This exceptional Montblanc writing instrument was issued in a strictly limited edition of 2,000 individually numbered examples.

Crafted from polished black precious resin, the pen is distinguished by an intricately sculpted 18K solid-gold dragon clip that winds dramatically around the cap. Two rubies form the dragon’s eyes, while a cultured freshwater pearl is held within its jaws. These carefully considered details transform the functional clip into a miniature work of goldsmithing.

The pen is fitted with an 18K gold medium nib, engraved with Chinese characters associated with the Year of the Dragon, and employs a traditional piston-filling mechanism. The combination of black resin, solid gold, rubies and pearl gives this limited edition a strong visual identity while reflecting the symbolism of power, prosperity and good fortune traditionally associated with the dragon.

According to the original exterior label, this example is No. 1481 of 2000, with manufacturer reference 28667 and a medium nib. Most importantly, the original Montblanc box remains unopened in its factory shrink wrap more than 25 years after its release. The pen has not been removed, filled, handled or tested by DSF Antique Jewelry, preserving its exceptional new-old-stock presentation.

Condition

Excellent new-old-stock condition. The original Montblanc presentation packaging remains unopened and sealed in its factory shrink wrap. Because maintaining the original seal is an important part of this pen’s rarity and value, the pen and interior contents have not been individually inspected or tested.
