Elvis Presley's Jewelry Up For Auction
Elvis Presley had a passion for all things glittery, from his sparkling jumpsuits to his diamond-studded rings.
Decades after the King's death, collectibles from the music and movie world, including gold rings that belonged to Elvis Presley and a letter written by Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, will be auctioned this weekend, according to Reuters.
The "Artifacts of Hollywood and Music" auction at Kruse GWS Auctions includes nearly 400 lots, with items that belonged also to Prince, Aaliyah and Abigail Folger, a coffee empire heiress who was victimized by the Manson family.
Elvis and His Jewelry
"This particular auction has some pretty powerful pieces as far as emotional connections for people", auctioneer Brigitte Kruse said. "There is this element of tragedy and icons leaving us way too soon".
A number of Presley memorabilia pieces are included in the top lots. A revolver and microphone from the artist's Las Vegas home, a medicine bottle dated March 1977, and two unusual gold rings that are expected to fetch between $35,000 and $60,000.
An additional noteworthy item is a handwritten letter that Wilson wrote to Mike Love, his bandmate and cousin, which Kruse said could fetch at least $10,000.
The online auction will be streamed live and will take place Saturday, Aug. 31.
Colonel Parker
A similar auction took place two years ago and was also organized by Kruse GWH Auction. It included dozens of pieces of jewelry gifted by the King to his manager Colonel Tom Parker.
The lavish gifts given to Parker included an 18-karat gold Corum watch, featuring a 130-year-old $20 coin on the dial, along with a pair of Presley’s custom cufflinks engraved with "rock" and "roll" on the undersides.
The 2022 auction also highlighted items Presley had specially made for Parker, the man widely credited with launching his career.
Among these were diamond and ruby snowman-shaped cufflinks, which the singer bought for his manager to celebrate the success of the groundbreaking "Aloha From Hawaii" satellite broadcast in 1973.
According to the 2022 auction catalog, Parker was nicknamed the "Snowman" and his jeweled cufflinks depict snowmen smoking cigars.
