Two DSF Antique Jewelry Pieces Selected for Bruce Museum Exhibition
DSF Antique Jewelry is pleased to announce that two pieces from its collection have been selected for inclusion in the Bruce Museum’s upcoming exhibition, Adorned by the Sea: Jewelry from the Deep, scheduled to run from March through September 2027.
The exhibition will explore the enduring relationship between the sea and the world of jewelry, bringing together objects inspired by marine life, mythology, navigation, and the mysteries of the ocean. Through carefully selected works, the exhibition will examine how jewelers across different periods transformed aquatic themes into wearable works of art, reflecting humanity’s long fascination with the sea and its symbolism.
Among the pieces loaned by DSF Antique Jewelry is an antique fish-form spice box, a rare object that captures the imaginative craftsmanship and decorative creativity associated with antique jewelry. Combining artistry with functionality, the piece reflects the historic tradition of transforming everyday objects into highly decorative works that conveyed both luxury and individuality.

The second piece selected for the exhibition is a Helen Ringus dolphin and anchor pendant-brooch, a design that beautifully combines sculptural elegance with nautical symbolism. Marine-inspired jewelry has remained a recurring artistic theme throughout history, appearing in Victorian jewelry, Art Nouveau creations, and twentieth-century modernist designs. Dolphins, anchors, shells, and other sea motifs have long symbolized protection, adventure, mystery, and humanity’s connection to the natural world.

For DSF Antique Jewelry, participation in the exhibition represents an opportunity to contribute to a broader cultural and historical dialogue surrounding jewelry and decorative arts. Antique and vintage jewelry often preserve artistic traditions, craftsmanship techniques, and historical narratives that continue to inspire collectors, museums, and designers today. Exhibitions such as Adorned by the Sea help highlight the importance of jewelry not only as adornment, but also as a form of artistic and cultural expression.
Founded in 1912, the Bruce Museum is recognized for its exhibitions spanning art, science, and natural history. The upcoming exhibition will offer visitors an opportunity to explore the connections between jewelry, symbolism, craftsmanship, and the sea through a carefully curated selection of objects from various collections.
DSF Antique Jewelry is honored to support this exhibition through the loan of two pieces from its collection and looks forward to sharing additional details as the opening date approaches.
